The Dance Direction Class Descriptions 
 

Intro to Dance I
"Twinkling Stars"
Variety of jazz, ballet and tumbling techniques and skills through use of games, music and creative movement. Helps students learn to be in a dance environment and to follow directions of the instructor.

 

Stretch & Aro
Learn acrobatic moves that help students to perform better and improve their routines with the extras that are needed to become top dancers. good class for all dancers who enjoy tumbling and gymnastic moves and a must for our Show Company.

Intro to Dance II
"Shooting Stars"
For students who have some prior dance instruction or have graduated from the Intro to Dance I. More focused on learning the proper steps, the students become much more secure in their routines.

Tap
An American dance form in which rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes. As dancers progress, tap steps become more intricate.

 

Ballet
Emphasizes on the development of classical ballet skills with a focus on proper placement and alignment. Consists of barre work, across-the-floor, and centre work.

Lyrical
A deep emotional dance expressing the lyrics of a song. Lyrical is a cross between ballet and jazz. Choreography is often very gripping and delicate.

 

Jazz
A fun, upbeat energetic class, involving technique, stretching and conditioning. Various leaps, turns, jumps, and combinations are taught. Different styles are introduced in the class such as lyrical jazz, Broadway jazz, and hip hop jazz.

Leaps & Turns
Necessary for the student dancer to learn the moves that will improve their dancing experience. No combination is taught.

 

Hip Hop
A high energy class, influenced by some of the best current music video choeographers. Uses a variety of popular rap, R&B, and pop music (age appropriate music).

Contemporary
Focuses on the dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet training. A more relaxed, free style of dancing.

Break Dancing
Popular class that we highlight in our recitals. Teaches students the basics of break dancing as seen in some popular talent shows. (Age appropriate music)

Ballroom
All forms of ballroom dancing will be taught. Waltz, Rhumba, Tango, and East Coast and West Coast Swing. Beginners welcome, come solo, or with a partner. Sessions are 6 weeks.

 

Health Steps
Moving you to a better health with the Lebed Method. A therapeutic exercise and movement program designed to help you thrive. Offering wellness programs for everyone, from young adults to seniors regardless of health, age, or ability level. This program improves overall wellness, range-of-motion, balance, strength and endurance as well as emotional well-being and self-image.

Irish Dance
Offers beginning and advanced dance instruction in step (solo) or Ceili (group) dancing. Dancing training for social enrichment or to dance competitively. Ages 6 - adult. Promotes the continuance of Irish culture and heritage in a positive, healthy, disciplined environment; and to provide enjoyment to those who dance and those who watch.
